The Great Battle of Perenniath

n a cold October day the emperor's forces landed upon the eastern shores of Ansalon. This had long been anticipated by the Paladines, and they were ready. They were waiting with an army numbering 70,000 men, the knights themselves numbered well over 5,000. The Ansalon army attacked immediately, while the enemy were still unloading their ships. The invading army counted 120,000 men it is said, but they could not get to use their superior numbers effectively as most of the men were still aboard the ships. Neither had they had the time to get their calvary ashore. So in the beginning the Ansalon army had the luck on their side. Then the emperor waded ashore, and he was a terrible sight. The powers granted him by Morgoth had made him 7 feet tall, and in his hands he carried a great battleaxe. His armour was enchanted, so that the Ansalon soldiers could not penetrate it. This terrified the Ansalons, and they started to flee. Then stepped forth Leopold Bellivieu, the leader of the Paladines. Both armies halted, as they knew the faith of the battle depended on the outcome of this duel. On one side the emperor, all in black, with his great axe and his evil magic. Against him a stout knight, all in silver, blessed by Paladine, confident in his faith. As he approached his enemy, his sword started glowing with a beaming light. The sword was made of silver, and was a gift from Paladine to Leopold, as the God had foreseen that this moment would come. With a mighty clash the two men leaped at each other, each one shouting the name of his god, arching their weapons with incredible power and speed.

The battle rages on.

The two men fought whole that afternoon, neither of them able to get in a real hit. If this was due to them being equal, or the Gods behind them being equal, it is not known. Their power were so strong over their armies that no one did cross their path to engage the enemy in combat. Later it has been said that it was the power of the Gods that prevented the armies to clash against each other. Some also say that both armies waited for one to die, as this would surely have meant the panic of the losers army, thus making it an easy prey for the victorious army. As the two battled for hours on end, they started to grow tired, and started to speak magic words and casting spells. Thus walls of fire, and evil demons stood against each other, side by side with their summoners. But a battle must end, and Leopold was the victorious, gathering all his magic powers, he cast a holy restrainment spell at his opponent. This was an easy spell, and thus he could put much power into it as it was easy to handle. The emperor was taken by surprise by this simple spell, as he had expected for more intricate magic. He had therefore not the time to launch a counter spell, and thus he staggered.

The battle ends!

Shouting the name of Paladine, Leopold speed forth, arching the silver sword over his head, and cleaved the emperor from head to chest. At this sight the Ansalon army screamed wildly and charged the new dead emperors army. Baffled they offered poor resistance, and the three following hours of fight might have been considered a slaughter, had neutral spectators written the history books. Some parts of the Imperial army fought well, and only the great skills of the Paladines could break these strong holds. Eventually the fleeing army boarded their ships, and tried to escape out to sea. This was to be their final mistake, as the men left behind on shore were easily slaughtered. The ships were bombarded with burning arrows, and every one of them sunk, leaving their crew to drown or slaughtered as they came on to the shore. This is how the great battle ended, and after this, The Paladine Knights were reckoned to be excellent fighters. Proving well in offense by being masters of defense. They never give in to evil, and remembering how Leopold beat the evil emperor that day, they gain power when needed the most.
