The Creators

The creators are the people who code on Deeper Trouble. Their main job is to maintain the vital files of the MUD, as well as fix bugs and add new areas to the game. To become a creator, a player must have played a character to at least level 22 and be approved by the current council. There is a minor hierachy among creators, which is as follows.

Administrator

The administrator is the creator who is "in charge" of the MUD. The administrator is the top of the Deeper Trouble hierachy so to speak, and has to be a person with local access to the server Deeper Trouble runs on. The administrators main responsibility is to maintain the GameDriver.

Council

The council makes important decisions concerning the structure of the MUD and the overall balance. If anyone have anything to complain about, it should be directed to the council. The council consists of four creators and the administrators, and they are all among the most experienced and innovative coders. It is, however, not a must to be the best of coders to join council, but it helps a great deal to be so, as they are the ones who have write access all over the mud, including the vital files which make "Artesia go around". Most of the coding done by the council is rarely seen by players as they concentrate on improving the MUDlib and so forth. The areas the players roam around are most often made by the creators. The council has scheduled meetings at least once a month where they discuss whatever is on the agenda, this could be granting a player "creatorhood", punishment of players who have broken the rules of Deeper Trouble and other issues that are easy to deal with in a minor forum, rather than arguing all the creators at one time.

Creators

The creators are coders who work to make Deeper Trouble a vast and adventurous place to be. They code new areas, monsters, items, guilds - you name it. The creators are by far the largest group of coders on Deeper Trouble and ensure that Artesia grows day by day. They aid players in handling minor bugs, develop new areas and improve old code which is not part of the MUDlib.

Apprentices

Once a player has left the realm of the mortals to join in making Deeper Trouble an even better place, he/she gets the title Apprentice. To take the step from being an apprentice to a creator, the person must complete an apprentice task, which typically is a minor area. After completing the apprentice task, the apprentice is advanced and becomes a creator by title, and thus gets more influence and more rights (such as read access in other directories).
